The length of an opening ribbon is typically 1 or 2 meters longer than the width of the building entrance being opened. This gives you enough extra length to tie the ribbon to something on either side of the entrance.

You can attach an opening ribbon in several ways. We often provide eye-catching balloons for openings. The ribbon can be tied between a balloon arch or two balloon columns. If there are no balloons, you can tie the ribbon to anything available (downspout, lamppost) or pin the ribbon to the building facade with two thumbtacks. Another simple method is to have two people hold the ends of the ribbon.

An opening ribbon is easy to cut with a normal sharp pair of scissors, but a large hedge shear as a statement piece is also perfect for cutting the ribbon. You can also tie two separate ribbons at the ends and knot them together in the middle with a bow. During the opening ceremony, the bow can be untied, and no scissors are needed.

We don’t sell scissors ourselves, but you can buy a regular pair at a stationery store. Or you can get a large, eye-catching hedge shear at a hardware store for a good price. This way, you don’t need to rent one, and the scissors are yours to keep for any future openings.

Unless agreed otherwise, we print your logo and/or text repeatedly along the length of the ordered ribbon. However, you are welcome to specify in the notes how you would like the ribbon printed. For example, you can request that the text or logo be printed just once in the middle. We always ensure that there’s enough unprinted ribbon at both ends so you can tie it to something. Your satisfaction is our priority, so feel free to provide any specific instructions during the ordering process.

The print on your opening ribbon is rainproof, so if it rains during the opening ceremony, you don’t need to worry about the print washing off.
